Admissions Problems

no, your kid isn't special at all actually...

TWEETS/POSTS OF THE WEEK

Happy. Freaking. Weekend. I couldn’t be more happy that Friday is here.

A couple of fun things from this week. Last Friday, we posted the TCU Ambassador “Call Me Maybe” video. This prompted a slew of comments with video links.

One we had already planned on posting here tonight - it showed up on the Facebook Fan Page about two weeks back. If you haven’t heard of the “Michigan Wait List” video, take a little peek:

So…this kid ended up getting pulled from the Michigan wait list. One of 42 kids from thousands on the wait list. Want to know my favorite part of this whole thing? The kid very clearly states at the beginning “I’ve never been to Michigan” and is from Los Angeles. Simple reasoning tells me he’s going to LOVE Michigan winters. This just seems like a match made in heaven. I give him a semester at Michigan before he realizes he needs to transfer. Should we start a pool?

Next up, video-palooza continues. We were sent this link from a follower of an Admitted Student Day flash mob:

Admittedly, I thought this was somewhat funny at the beginning. But after the 2 minute mark, I was ready for this to be over. I found myself uncomfortably squirming in my seat, and, if I felt that way sitting here in my pajamas, I’m sure the actual students at Admitted Students Day did too. But B+ for getting your President to come out and do a little Footloose action. He looked like he was going to keel over - I would have bumped up to an A- had he done just that.

Last up, a challenge for all of you. A follower sent us a link to a news article about this new Ghana dance craze called Azonto. You essentially act out your profession via dance. Here’s a quick video to show you what the hell we’re talking about:

Challenge: Make the BEST Admissions Azonto by the end of July

Whoever has the best Azonto dance will win a special prize. More details to come. Is that good enough to get started? Do you really need a reason anyway? It’s summer. You’re bored. Get to it.

Last up today, a sad farewell to one of our own leaving the profession for greener pastures. She’s been a staple on Twitter providing fiesty, sassy tweets riddled with curse words and lack of discretion. All of the things we love in a person.

Farewell, Christina. Good luck in the new job and stay in touch. If you ever feel like you may miss Admissions, remember this sage proverb, straight from me to you:

Monthly numbers report for you all tomorrow. Which state shall reign supreme? And Comments and Comebacks (responses from our inbox). Have a great weekend.
